在台灣桃園市老街深處，有一棟外牆爬滿薜荔藤的老戲院「昇平戲院」四個字早已褪色剝落，鐵門上掛著生鏽的鐵鎖，窗戶玻璃破碎不堪，被木板草草釘住。當地老輩人說，這座建於日治時期的戲院，藏著一個陰森的秘密 —— 每到農曆七月，若有人在戲院裡聽到鑼鼓聲，千萬不能應聲，否則就會被「戲魂」纏上。​ 故事要從民國七十二年說起。當時昇平戲院是桃園最熱鬧的娛樂場所，經常上演歌仔戲和布袋戲。戲院老闆吳德昌從福建請來一個頗有名氣的歌仔戲班「福興閣」，班主林阿福帶著妻子陳玉嬌和十幾名演員在此駐場演出。陳玉嬌扮相絕佳，嗓音清亮，一曲《陳三五娘》唱得觀眾如癡如醉，成了戲院的當紅台柱。​...
