There is a huge rule change for top snooker players in the 2025/26 season, which could see them win a lot more money.

The £147,000 prize for two 147s across the Triple Crown Events [UK Championship, The Masters and the World Championship] is back, with a slight change.

The World Snooker Tour [WST] have announced that there is a fourth major this year, and it is the Saudi Arabian Masters.

As a result, it has been included as one of the events in which scoring a 147 would contribute towards earning the £147,000 prize pot.

So as well as UK and World qualifying, there is one more chance for players to potentially claim a huge bonus.

The introduction of this rule puts added significance on the Saudi Arabian Masters.

Wales’ Jackson Page was the only player on the tour to manage it last year with two 147s during qualifying in Sheffield for the World Championships.

He didn’t even make it to the main event, but all of the other players will be out to emulate his achievements this year.

Page is also the only player in history to manage it since its introduction in 2023.

And with the Saudi Arabian Masters now underway, you are likely to see players going all out for those 147s.

However, that isn’t all that is up for grabs in Jeddah.

The winner of this tournament will take home £500,000 in prize money.

Snooker events that count towards 147 bonus

  • Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters, August 8-16, 2025
  • UK Championship qualifiers, November 22-27, 2025
  • UK Championship main event, November 29 to December 7, 2025
  • Johnstone’s Paint Masters, January 11-18, 2026
  • World Championship qualifiers, April 6-15, 2026

Last year, it was England’s Judd Trump who came out on top against Mark Williams to bank half a million pounds, and he is back in the Middle East.

Ronnie O’Sullivan, Trump and the rest of the top 16 don’t enter the tournament until Tuesday when they will face a winner of one of the fourth-round matches.

However, veterans like Ken Doherty and Jimmy White are competing, and the prize pot is open to all.

They will all be looking to emulate Page this year who used the money to help buy a house.

What did Jackson Page say about his historic achievement?

Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast about it, the Welshman said: “From the first ball of the second one, I was going for it. I knew the balls were there. I just thought, ‘Yeah, let’s go for it’.

“I was 9-2 up, so I had a little bit of breathing room, so I just went for it and somehow managed to make it.”

When asked if he was nervous knowing a bonus was on the line, he said: “I wasn’t too bad. The 15th black to yellow was tough, but as soon as that went in, I was calm, and I knew it was happening.

Regarding how he celebrated, the Welshman said: “Yeah, I just went to Miller & Carter and then bed.”

But making 147s is a regular thing for Page, at least in practice.

He remarked: “I make them all the time. I have probably had four or five in the last couple of weeks, so it happens regularly.

“It just felt a bit routine in the end, which is a good thing, but it’s just a great feeling to have it in a match.”
