Andy Cohen called out Martina Navratilova for making “ill-informed” remarks about surrogacy.

The TV personality, 57, slammed the tennis star, 68, for her controversial comments on the Tuesday, August 5 episode of Sirius XM’s “Andy Cohen Live.”

Cohen’s two children, son Benjamin, 6, and daughter, Lucy, were both welcomed via surrogacy and he took issue with Navratilova previously declaring surrogacy was “wrong.”

“What Martina tweeted was, ‘Surrogacy is wrong.’ She said, ‘Surrogacy is just wrong. Sometimes you can’t have it all.’ Well, here’s the deal, that’s just ill-informed and dumb,” Cohen said.

He added, “Basically, she’s uninformed on the issue, so I just think she’s not informed. It’s a bad take. What can I tell you? She’s just wrong.”

Navratilova sparked debate when she wrote in a since-deleted post shared via X, “Surrogacy is just wrong. Sometimes you can’t have it all. A screenshot of the apparent post was shared via a fan account on July 13.

In response to the post, some followers criticized Navratilova for her take, especially given she and her wife Julia Lemigova adopted two boys. These followers argued that using an alternative route to welcome children into their life while criticizing surrogacy specifically made her hypocritical.

“I asked Julia about it on WWHL,” Cohen added during the episode of Sirius XM’s “Andy Cohen Live.”

He continued, “Julia and I have discussed this offline. Martina will not be at the Miami reunion, so I will not be asking Martina about this.”

Lemigova, 53, appeared on the July 30 episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, where Cohen asked her about Navratilova’s contentious comments.

The Real Housewives of Miami star defended her wife and claimed the comments were taken “out of context” but added that she didn’t share the same view as Navratilova.

“Well, you know, Martina and I share a bed, but we don’t share a brain. And we do not always agree on different views, but I believe in surrogacy,” Lemigova said. “And I completely disagree with her comments.”

Martina Navratilova Shares Controversial Take on Surrogacy In Deleted Post

Cohen has previously been open about using surrogates to grow his family, calling them “rockstars” in a 2022 Instagram post.

He also told Anderson Cooper on New Year’s Eve in 2018 how much the existence of surrogacy meant to him personally.

“When I was growing up, and when we were growing up … I just never thought it would be possible as a gay man to grow up and have a family,” Cohen said. “And here we are in 2018, almost ‘19, and anything’s possible. And I’m so grateful to a wonderful surrogate that I’m working with.”
