Newcastle face competition from Manchester United in the race to sign Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko.

talkSPORT BET are pricing the Tyneside club as 2/5 odds on favourites to sign the Slovenia international as they seek to reinforce their squad over the summer, though the Red Devils are now as short as 7/4.

The 22-year-old has been long been moved to one of the top club’s in Europe since bursting onto the scene at Salzburg, and earned his first big move to the Bundesliga to join Leipzig two years ago, bagging 39 goals in 87 appearances for die Roten Bullen.

21 goals in 45 games last season has led to speculation of several Premier League clubs’ interest in the Slovenian, with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and now Newcastle and Manchester United all heavily linked to the striker.

Newcastle received the dreaded news that start striker and best player Alexander Isak has intentions of leaving the Tyneside club, despite having fired the club to Carabao Cup triumph, ending a 70-year wait for a domestic trophy, as well as contributing to a fifth-placed league finish and Champions League football next season.

Following Callum Wilson’s exit this summer, Isak’s departure would leave Eddie Howe with only 21-year-old William Osula as a recognised number nine in his squad, though the Swede’s exit would open up a large fund for transfers that could be splashed on Sesko and others.

Benjamin Sesko next club odds (talkSPORT BET)

  • Newcastle – 2/5
  • Manchester United – 7/4
  • Arsenal – 20/1
  • Chelsea – 20/1
  • Barcelona – 25/1
  • Inter Milan – 25/1
  • Liverpool – 25/1
  • Manchester City – 25/1
  • PSG – 25/1

Manchester United’s attack rebuild looks to continue this summer having already signed the likes of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

Ruben Amorim though doesn’t seem content with the strikers currently in the squad, with neither Rasmus Hojlund nor Joshua Zirkzee having made the starting number nine spot their own since their respective arrivals at the club.

It seems to be a two horse race to sign the 22-year-old, with Arsenal and Chelsea, both thought previously to be interested in the forward, now priced at joint third favourite at 20/1 having both already recruited in the striker department this summer.

Arsenal have signed highly rated Swede Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Libson for £57m, while Chelsea have signed both Joao Pedro from Brighton for £55m and Liam Delap from Ipswich for £31m.
