Courteney Cox showed love for her boyfriend, Johnny McDaid, in the sweetest PDA-filled birthday tribute.
The Friends alum, 61, shared a series of photos via Instagram to celebrate the singer-songwriter’s big day on Thursday, July 24.
“Happy Birthday J. You mean so much to so many, but you mean everything to me. I love you ,” Cox captioned the heartfelt post.
In one photo, McDaid adorably held Cox close to his chest with his arms wrapped around her. She beamed from ear to ear as they stood on a waterfront balcony. In the second picture, the duo wore sunglasses and button-down shirts while standing in front of the ocean in what looked to be a vacation destination.
The third picture in the set showed Cox giving McDaid, 49, a kiss on the cheek. Cox wore a straw hat and a polka-dot ensemble with gold earrings, while McDaid went for a more casual look in a white T-shirt.

“Dude’s got a real Monica Geller for himself. Lucky Guy,” one person commented on the post, referencing Cox’s iconic Friends character.
“This is beautiful. I’m tearing up from the poetic note, honey! And happiest birthday, JMD!! We love you more every year!” a second person wrote.

Cox and McDaid were introduced by mutual friend Ed Sheeran in 2013 and began dating shortly after. The couple got engaged in 2014 but ended up calling off their engagement the following year. However, they did not give up on their romance entirely, as they decided to give things another shot.
“He’s not my fiancé. We were engaged to be married, but now we’re just together,” Cox said during a January 2019 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “We broke off our engagement, and he moved to England, then we got back together, and it’s actually better than it was before.”

Cox reflected once more on her brief split from McDaid during an April 2024 appearance on the “Minnie Questions with Minnie Driver” podcast. She explained that going to therapy was an integral tool in her reconciliation with the musician.
“I’m so thankful for that breakup because when we got back together it was a different relationship, but also because it really taught me how I operated in the world — what were the things from my childhood that I needed, whether it was to be adored by men, things that I didn’t know how to let go, to be in a relationship, to not take things personally, my boundaries. I just went into myself,” the actress said.
