Bet of the day

Nottingham Forest to beat Brentford @ 11/10

It has been a summer of upheaval at Brentford, who have seen Bryan Mbeumo head to Manchester United, captain Christian Norgaard depart for Arsenal and manager Thomas Frank go to Tottenham.

Forward Yoane Wissa also wants to leave for Newcastle and new boss Keith Andrews, handed his first managerial position, has confirmed the DR Congo international will not be available for selection for Sunday’s trip to Nottingham Forest.

It all looks to be a bit of a mess for the Bees right now and the Tricky Trees, who are closing in on no less than four new signings, can take advantage by claiming all three points at the City Ground.

Forest collected 32 points from 19 home games last season, a record bettered by just six teams, and Nuno Espirito Santo’s side can continue that strong form in Nottinghamshire.

Special of the day

Ipswich and Southampton – Draw, Hibernian to beat Livingston & Atletico Madrid to beat Espanyol @ 21/2

Relegated from the Premier League last season, Ipswich have made a slow start to the new campaign with a 1-1 draw against Birmingham in the Championship followed by an EFL Cup exit at the hands of Bromley.

Saints, who also dropped down from the top flight, needed a late comeback to beat Wrexham 2-1 on the opening weekend before edging past Northampton in the EFL Cup.

Last season’s encounters were tight affairs, with a 1-1 draw at St Mary’s followed by a 2-1 win for Ipswich at Portman Road, and a share of the spoils could be on the cards on Sunday.

Hibernian travel to Livingston in the second round of the knockout phase of the Scottish League Cup on Sunday and the visitors look capable of advancing to the quarter-finals.

Hibs are unbeaten in their three away assignments this season, drawing at Midtjylland and beating both Dundee and Partizan, and that strong form can see them overcome a Livi side who have won just one of the last six meetings against Hibernian.

Round off this accumulator with a win for Atletico Madrid when they travel to Espanyol, who finished last season with five defeats in their last six matches.

Los Rojiblancos have been busy in the summer transfer window, bringing in the likes of Giacomo Raspadori and Alex Baena, and they have not lost against Espanyol since May 2019.

Long shot of the day

Manchester United v Arsenal – Declan Rice anytime goalscorer @ 6/1

Two of English football’s biggest rivals clash at Old Trafford on Sunday, when Manchester United host Arsenal, and visiting midfielder Declan Rice will fancy his chances of getting on the scoresheet.

The England international picked up nine goals in all competitions for the Gunners last season, one of those coming against the Red Devils at the Theatre of Dreams in March’s league meeting, and he can find the back of the net again up against a fragile United backline.
