It’s not uncommon for Netflix to roll out several great options every week for binge-watching fans.
The true rarity is when Netflix isn’t stocked with new and returning hits like Wednesday and Sullivan’s Crossing.
Each week, the Watch With Us team comes together to pick the three underrated Netflix shows that you need to watch this weekend.
First up this week is a recent revival of a classic sci-fi show, a brutal prison drama and a sitcom that should be very familiar to family-comedy fans from the ’90s.

‘Quantum Leap’ (2022 – 2024)
Scott Bakula didn’t return for the Quantum Leap revival, but the legacy of his character, Dr. Sam Beckett, lives on. Three decades after Sam stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator, Dr. Ben Song (Raymond Lee) does the same thing and vanishes into the time stream.
Just as Sam had before him, Ben finds himself living out chapters in other people’s lives decades in the past. Ben’s only link to the future is Addison Augustine (Caitlin Bassett), the woman who was meant to be the Leaper on this project. She appears to Ben as a hologram that only he can see or hear. However, Addison hasn’t been entirely forthcoming about her connection with Ben, in part because time travel has ravaged his memories. It will take a while to unravel the mysteries that Ben left behind in his own time, and now he has to put right what once went wrong.

‘In the Mud’ (2025)
Netflix’s new Argentine drama In the Mud tonally falls somewhere between Orange Is the New Black and HBO’s Oz, leaning more towards the latter than the former. The series starts with something straight out of The Fugitive, as one of seven female inmates makes a daring escape from police custody. Gladys Guerra (Ana Garibaldi), Olga Giuliani (Erika de Sautu Riestra), Marina Delorsi (Valentina Zenere), Yael Rubial (Carolina Ramírez) and Solita Rodríguez (Camila Peralta) literally crawl through the mud to survive the aftermath of the escape. A sixth inmate wasn’t as lucky.

All five women were strangers, but they banded together at their new prison, La Quebrada. This facility is staffed by corrupt officials who make life for the inmates a living hell behind bars. As the women struggle to adjust, they learn they’ve made an enemy out of Maria (Cecilia Rossetto), an imprisoned crime boss. Maria’s niece was the inmate who died in the escape, and she blames Gladys and her newfound group for leaving her to die.

‘The Steve Harvey Show’ (1996 – 2002)
Before he looked constantly embarrassed by contestant remarks while hosting Family Feud, Steve Harvey had his own sitcom on The WB. The Steve Harvey Show featured the comedian as Steve Hightower, a famous musician who becomes a music teacher and vice principal at Booker T. Washington High School.
Two of Steve’s best friends, Principal Regina Grier (Wendy Raquel Robinson) and Cedric Robinson (Cedric the Entertainer), already work at the school when the series begins. It takes time for Steve to adjust to his new career, but he eventually finds a way to form a bond with his students and become the kind of teacher they need to reach their collective potential.
