In a random Hallmark x reality TV crossover, Luke Macfarlane recalled how Jason Wahler mistaking him for someone else in the early days of The Hills led to an almost bar fight.
“Do you watch The Hills, ever? Were you ever in the Laguna Beach, The Hills cinematic universe?” Julia Cunningham asked Macfarlane, 45, during the Tuesday, August 12, episode of SiriusXM’s The Julia Cunningham Show, sparking a story from Macfarlane that felt straight out of an episode of the MTV reality shows.
Macfarlane answered, “I met Spencer [Pratt] when I first moved to Hollywood, but that’s all. I think it was Spencer.”
The Hallmark star mused, “Maybe it was Jason,” referring to the Laguna Beach alum and later star of The Hills, which aired from 2006 to 2010.

Macfarlane explained that moved from his home country of Canada to the United States in 1999 to pursue acting. He lived in New York City until 2006 when he relocated to California which is when he encountered The Hills crew at “one of those Young Hollywood parties.”
Cunningham pointed out that fellow Hills alum Lauren Conrad — who dated Wahler when she first lived in L.A. after sparking a romance his senior year at Laguna Beach High School — was “always” working the door at those parties.
Macfarlane then remembered Pratt, 41, and Whaler, 38, being at the same place. “They were together, and I don’t know the show well enough, but Jason tried to pick a fight with me,” he revealed.
When Cunningham asked, “Jason Wahler? Wow,” Macfarlane wondered, “Would that make sense?” Cunningham noted that “it could have been” Wahler as Macfarlane continued to search his memories for more details.
“Was he the one that was bigger?” Macfarlane asked, before recalling that Wahler “thought I was somebody else who was dating his ex-girlfriend, and he pushed me at a bar.”

Macfarlane remembered Wahler mistaking him for actor Josh Henderson. (Henderson was spotted with Conrad at a Hollywood event in July 2007, but neither of them publicly confirmed their romantic status.)
“He was in Dallas, the reboot, and he was dating somebody that Jason was involved with,” the actor said of Henderson, 43, and the mix-up. “And I’m going back to The Hills of it all, but he felt so bad, Jason. He was like, ‘I’m so sorry,’ and then he, like, wanted to buy me a shot.”
Macfarlane concluded that when Wahler went to buy him a drink he revealed that he was on The Hills, to which he responded, “Oh, OK. Haven’t seen [it].”
Wahler made his reality TV debut on Laguna Beach in 2005 during season 2 when he was dating Jessica Smith. He later appeared on The Hills and its reboot, The Hills: New Beginnings. Shortly after Conrad, 39, chose her relationship with Wahler over going to Paris with Teen Vogue, the pair split.

Wahler has been married to Ashley Slack since 2013. The couple share three children: daughter Delilah and sons Wyatt and August.
Macfarlane, meanwhile, made a splash in Hollywood while starring on 2005’s Over There before playing Scotty Wandell on Brothers & Sisters from 2006 to 2011. He has since become a big star on Hallmark Channel, appearing in rom-coms and holiday films for the network.
Macfarlane currently stars on Platonic with Seth Rogen. The actor and his partner former world cup skier Hig Roberts share one child, daughter Tess, born in June 2023.
