James Wade has revealed his reasoning for snubbing the Australian Darts Masters for Disneyland.

The Machine was absent from the line-up for the latest World Series of Darts event.

He will also miss this weekend’s New Zealand Darts Masters as part of a double header in the region.

Luke Littler and Luke Humphries are both involved, though, but Wade instead headed to Disneyland Paris on a family holiday.

The world number five gave fans a glimpse into the trip by sharing a series of photos to social media.

Among them was a snap of Wade wearing a Donald Duck backpack as he provided an update on Facebook.

Alongside the post, he wrote: “Morning all, we have had the best family holiday away at Disneyland Paris.

“Thanks for such a great time!! We all loved it and it was very well needed to spend some quality time with the family. Also got to wear my new bag.”

Why did Wade not play in Australia?

As for why he chose not to play in Australia and New Zealand this month, he told Darts News: “I’d already booked a family holiday.

“As much as I want to go to Australia, I’m going to Disneyland Paris instead. I won’t put darts before my family.

“But for the last 20 years, I have put the PDC before James, before my family, and before relatives. I’ve done enough for them, I think.”

Wade has not played since losing to Littler in the final of last month’s World Matchplay.

He scooped £100,000 from the event despite losing 18-13 to the Nuke at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens.

The defeat denied Wade a second World Matchplay title following his previous triumph in 2007.

Meanwhile, he is a former World Series Finals champion but has yet to win an individual event on the circuit.

As for last weekend’s Australian Darts Masters, Littler tasted victory in Wollongong.

The world champion saw off Mike De Decker in the final for his third World Series win.

When is the New Zealand Darts Masters?

Littler will once again be in action at the New Zealand Darts Masters in Auckland this week, with the event scheduled for Friday and Saturday.

A trio of PDC stars have joined Wade in being absent from the event, though.

Michael van Gerwen, Rob Cross and Nathan Aspinall are not among the eight PDC representatives due to family reasons.
