Detroit Tigers outfielder and the No. 10-ranked prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline, Max Clark, received backlash on social media on Friday for the number of chains he wears during games.
How does nobody pull Max Clark aside & tell him he looks ridiculous flexing 10 chains during a game bro hasn’t even made it to the league yet pic.twitter.com/QAR3HpVrYn— Paul (@BabbleBronx) February 26, 2026
This X post bashing Clark's chains has nearly 2.7 million views since this afternoon. Does Clark care about what people think about his on-field preferences? It doesn't appear so.
"Comfortable in my own skin and always will be," Clark, a center fielder who reached Double-A last season, wrote Friday on X. "Opinions from those scared to chase their dreams. World needs more love. Imperfect."
All that matters is Clark's performance
Based on Clark's response, he would likely say he's too focused on the task at hand to worry about what others think of his jewelry.
MLB Pipeline ranks the 21-year-old as the top outfield prospect in baseball. The left-handed hitter has serious power and speed potential after hitting 14 homers and stealing 19 bases in 111 combined games last season at High-A West Michigan and Double-A Erie.
Clark was the third overall pick in the 2023 draft. The only two players selected in front of him? Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes and LSU standout and Washington Nationals speedster Dylan Crews.
