It’s now only a matter of time: Patrice Beaumelle will be the new head coach of Espérance Sportive de Tunis. He is set to succeed Maher Kanzari, who was dismissed last week.

After terminating his contract with the Angolan Football Federation, the French tactician is now just a step away from joining the reigning Tunisian champions.

The 47-year-old coach arrived in Tunis on Monday evening. He was spotted at Tunis-Carthage airport and even made his first remarks to the Tunisian press, declaring: “Taraji Dawla,” a slogan that the loyal fans of the Blood and Gold use to express their pride in their team.

Patrice Beaumelle will finalize the last details of his contract and could be present—though likely not on the bench—during the rescheduled matchday 19 fixture of the Tunisian Ligue Pro 1, set to take place against AS Soliman this Tuesday, February 17.

The Arles native knows the continent well, having worked as an assistant with Morocco and USM Alger, and as head coach with Morocco U23, Ivory Coast, MC Alger, and most recently Angola.
