Sean O’Malley says artificial intelligence supports his view of his fight with Merab Dvalishvili.
After dropping the bantamweight title at UFC 306 by unanimous decision, O’Malley has continued to question the scoring. His latest argument centers on AI analysis.
The former champion claims ChatGPT would have awarded him the victory.

Merab Dvalishvili earned unanimous decision win at UFC 306
Dvalishvili defeated O’Malley by unanimous decision in the UFC 306 main event to capture the bantamweight championship. The judges sided with Dvalishvili after five rounds, driven by pressure and sustained grappling control.
He secured multiple takedowns and controlled significant portions of the contest. O’Malley had success in striking exchanges but spent extended stretches defending on the mat.
Most media scorecards reflected the official result on fight night. However, discussion followed regarding how effective striking should be weighed against control.
O’Malley has repeatedly stated that he believes he won three rounds. He maintains that public opinion has shifted in the months since the bout.
O’Malley says ChatGPT scored rounds 1, 3 and 5 in his favor
In a recent interview, O’Malley pointed to artificial intelligence as validation of his position. He referenced ChatGPT when outlining his case.
“1, 3, and 5! The narrative is changing. The people know. At first they didn’t. Then they did. They’re getting smarter. You put it to AI and say, ‘Here’s the fight, who won it?’ It says clear as day, ChatGPT, ‘Sean O’Malley won round 1, 3, 5.’ AI knows!”
O’Malley argues that his effective striking should have carried greater weight in certain rounds. He believes reassessment of the bout has led more observers to his side.
The official decision from UFC 306 remains unchanged with Dvalishvili recognized as the winner. Even so, debate over the scoring continues to surround the fight.
