The Pittsburgh Steelers are facing an interesting offseason ahead as the team likely needs to overhaul its offense.
Pittsburgh enters the offseason without a clear answer at quarterback as Aaron Rodgers is a free agent, but he could return for one more year. But, regardless of whether or not Rodgers returns to the Steelers, Pittsburgh needs to add more weapons on offense.
The NFL Draft is a good spot for the Steelers to add a weapon, and reporter Mike DeFabo of The Athletic predicted Pittsburgh will trade up to select star wide receiver Jordyn Tyson out of Arizona State.
“If you’re not already rolling your eyes at the concept of a mock draft and complaining in the comments (as is tradition this time of year), just remember the point of this exercise is to get acquainted with incoming prospects who would fill needs,” DeFabo wrote in an article published on Thursday. “With that approach in mind, what better place to start my first mock draft than with the Steelers’ most glaring hole: wide receiver. …
“Tyson, who could be a WR1 one day, best fits McCarthy’s description as an all-purpose threat. He possesses good body control, smooth route-running and an excellent combat catch radius. Coached by Hines Ward at Arizona State, he also reportedly played through hamstring injuries in both legs at points this year, something that will endear him to the Steelers.”
DeFabo predicts Pittsburgh will trade the 21st overall pick and a third-round pick to move up to the 15th overall range to select Tyson.
Tyson could come in and be a dynamic receiver for the Steelers and help overhaul their offense. At Arizona State last season, he recorded 61 receptions for 711 yards and eight touchdowns. His best season came in 2024 when he had 75 receptions for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns.
The Steelers have 12 total picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. The draft will be held in Pittsburgh on April 23-25.
