SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Super Bowl is just a few days away.

South Dakotans will be cheering for one of their own this Sunday.

Pierre native and Seattle Seahawks rookie guard Grey Zabel and his team will face off against the New England Patriots.

The San Francisco area will be at the center of the Super Bowl action this Sunday.

But South Dakota’s capital city will also be buzzing with excitement.

Zabel played for North Dakota State before being selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft.

Lankspur Landing owners Brianna and Brevin Kaiser will host a watch party on Sunday.

The event center also hosted a draft celebration for Zabel back in April.

“At that time Grey was able to be here for that. Now we get to watch him on the screen however many months later, full circle moment so we thought what better time than now to host an opportunity for people to come out and watch the game together,” Brianna Kaiser said.

Other Pierre businesses are hosting watch parties too, including Bob’s Lounge.

“I believe that it’s going to be quite busy here on Sunday. It’s going to be a great following. A lot of his friends will be in here watching, supporting,” Bob’s Lounge Bartender Caitlin Pinela said.

It’s an opportunity to cheer for a local name on the national stage.

“I mean everybody has their team, but if your team’s not in it, you’re a Seahawks fan, you’re a Grey Zabel fan in Pierre, or in most of South Dakota I’m sure,” Bob’s Lounge Owner David Kelley said.

“Even if you’re not a Seahawks fan you’re a fan of them just because the hometown guy, the state guy. What better time than now to come out and celebrate all that he’s done,” Brianna Kaiser said.

Raven’s Roadside Tavern is also among the businesses hosting parties.

The owner says it’s phenomenal Zabel is heading to the Super Bowl.
