Phoenix Suns coach Jordan Ott said Jalen Green is “day-to-day” with a right hamstring injury that sidelined him for Sunday’s game Jan. 25 against the Miami Heat at Mortgage Matchup Center.
The Suns listed Green out under right hamstring injury management. He played just four minutes in the Jan. 23 110-103 loss to the Atlanta Hawks to end a six-game road trip. He was ruled out halftime of the game with precautionary right hamstring tightness.
“MRI came back, nothing new,” Ott said pregame Sunday. “That’s great news for us.”
Ott said Green worked out with Suns coaches on Sunday morning.
“He’s in a good place,” Ott said. “There’s going to be some of this where he feels something that doesn’t feel quite right. Then once the imaging comes back, there’s nothing new, I think that just eases all of our minds. He’s in a good place. Hopefully we’ll see him back.”
Suns star guard Devin Booker will be re-evaluated in a week after suffering a right ankle sprain in Friday's loss.
Jordan Ott on Jalen Green: “When he’s ready to play and he feels good, he’ll be back out there. He’s been out for a while. So he’s going to have to learn his body and he wants to be sure, too. Green has played just four games in his first season in Phoenix as he’s reinjured or tweaked the hamstring three times since initially injuring it in training camp.
The Suns acquired Green from Houston in the Kevin Durant trade before the 2025 draft.
“When he’s ready to play and he feels good, he’ll be back out there,” Ott said. “He’s been out for a while. So he’s going to have to learn his body and he wants to be sure, too. He’s 23 years old. He wants to feel right. We’re going to have to work through some of that.”
Green missed 33 consecutive games before returning Jan. 20 against Philadelphia during Phoenix’s six-game road trip.
Coming off the bench for the first time ever, Green scored 12 points in 20 minutes in Phoenix’s 116-110 win over the 76ers.
The Suns had two days in between that game and the Jan. 13 matchup against the Hawks as Green was able to practice with the team and participate in the morning shootaround.
Coming off the bench again, Green scored four points in four minutes as he checked out with 2:21 left in the first quarter after scoring on a driving layup.
He didn’t return to the game. Ott said Green tweaked the hamstring two possessions on a shot as he was fouled on the play.
“That specific movement caused some type of sensation, some type of tightness,” Ott said.
