John Harbaugh is opening up about his relationship with Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson now that the coach and the organization have parted ways.

“Phenomenal relationship with Lamar,” Harbaugh said on the Tuesday, January 20, episode of Evan & Tiki LIVE on WFAN. “Everything has been absolutely positive. Ask him, he’ll tell you. We love each other. We tell each other we love each other. He’s one of my favorite human beings.”

Harbaugh — who was fired by the Ravens at the end of the 2025-2026 NFL regular season and subsequently hired by the New York Giants — was a guest on the show with hosts Evan Roberts, Tiki Barber and Shaun Morash.

“We revolutionized offensive football with Lamar Jackson,” Harbaugh said. “I don’t know why that doesn’t get written about more. So let’s talk about that more.”

The crew was broadcasting their show from Harbaugh’s introductory press conference, after the Giants finalized the five-year deal.

“I’m excited to be here,” Harbaugh said. “These families are amazing. This place is different in a lot of great ways. It’s one of a kind. It’s iconic. It’s the New York Giants. The New York football Giants. It was probably going to be them from the beginning.”

Harbaugh was terminated from his position with the Ravens on January 6 after 18 seasons as head coach. This year, the Ravens missed the playoffs for the first time since 2021.

“Well, I was hoping for a different kind of message on my last day here, someday, but that day has come today. 😊It comes with disappointment certainly, but more with GRATITUDE & APPRECIATION,” Harbaugh said in a statement released by the Ravens after the announcement.

He continued, “Gratitude to the owner and organization who was willing to bring in a head coach who made his mark with Special Teams success. A difficult thing to do … and Appreciation for all the moments, all these years, that are etched into eternity.”

The next day, President Donald Trump endorsed Harbaugh via Truth Social.

“HIRE JOHN HARBAUGH, FAST,” Trump, 79, wrote on January 7. “HE, AND HIS BROTHER, ARE TOTAL WINNERS!!!”

In a later post on January 10, Trump — a New York native and fan of the local sports teams — showed his support again for Harbaugh, specifically encouraging the Giants to hire him.

“The New York Football Giants should hire, without question, John Harbaugh – And John, a great guy, should TAKE THE JOB!!! President DJT,” Trump wrote.

The Giants hired Harbaugh a week later.

Harbaugh responded to the President’s support at his introductory press conference.

“I’ll tell you, I also noticed on that post that he said, ‘John, take the job,’” Harbaugh said. “So I thought that [Giants owner] John Mara might have something to do with that. I don’t know, but it’s cool.”

Mara has, at times, had a contentious relationship with President Trump in the past, confronting him about his remarks about NFL players refusing to stand for the national anthem back in 2017.

“Comments like we heard last night from the president are inappropriate, offensive and divisive,” he said in a statement with Giants co-owner Steve Tisch. “We are proud of our players, the vast majority of whom use their NFL platform to make a positive difference in our society.”

Harbaugh joins the Giants after 18 seasons with the Ravens. He won Super Bowl XLVII in 2012, but an 8-9 season in 2025 derailed his future with the team. It was just the franchise’s second losing season since 2016.

He went 180-113 during his time in Baltimore.
