The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night after losing back-to-back games, improving their record to 26-11 and staying ahead of the Denver Nuggets for second place in the Western Conference.
Guard Keldon Johnson led the team in scoring with 27 points off the bench, shooting very efficiently (11-13 from the field), which played a huge role in San Antonio's win.
Johnson is having one of the best seasons in his career while the team is actually winning, averaging 13.5 points per game on 50 percent shooting from the field and 42 percent from downtown. Johnson's career-best scoring average was over three seasons, when he averaged 22 points in 2022, but the Spurs were well below .500

Johnson knows this season is the most meaningful in his career
Scoring many points is a cool milestone for many young players, but when it's done in a winning effort, it feels way better, and Johnson is realizing that this season.
During his post-game press conference, the guard confessed that he feels this season is the best of his career and cited winning as the reason.
"We've won the most, and there's no better feeling than winning. I've averaged 22 in the league, and we won 20 games. It wasn't as meaningful as it is this year," Johnson admitted.
Johnson, along with many others, knows the Spurs have proved themselves to be championship contenders and can beat anyone in the league for the first time in a while. The seven-year guard wants to ensure that's what he cherishes the most during this season and eventually into the playoffs.
