Texas woman Courtney Renee Hooper was arrested after she was accused by police of killing her boyfriend on Christmas Eve following an alleged fight.

Authorities confirmed in a press briefing on Thursday, December 25, that they responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in Bexar County, Texas, on Wednesday, December 24. Once authorities arrived at the home, they found a 42-year-old man who was unresponsive.

The man — whose identity has not yet been publicly revealed — was pronounced dead at the scene after police were unable to revive him.

Meanwhile, authorities arrested Hooper, 36, in connection with the man’s death. Hooper and the man were in a romantic relationship, though it’s not currently clear how long they were together, and no other details have been provided about their relationship.

Woman Arrested, Charged in Connection With Husband’s Murder 22 Years Later

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said during the press briefing that investigators learned the man and the woman got into an argument about a cell phone and car that “escalated to the point of shooting.”

Amid the investigation, Hooper allegedly provided police with a video that she claimed would “exonerate” her. However, Salazar said that the video actually hurt her case.

“In reality, after watching that video, it just seemed like that made her seem even more guilty,” he said during the press briefing. Salazar then added that the clip “showed at least some of the disturbance that led to this murder.”

Despite briefly discussing the footage, the sheriff did not reveal any specific details about the video in question.

Authorities also revealed that there were children present in the residence at the time of the shooting. However, the sheriff did not disclose their ages or explain how they were related to Hooper or the victim.

Hooper has been charged with first-degree murder, according to online court records reviewed by Us Weekly, and a judge has set her bond at $150,000. It’s not currently clear if she has obtained legal representation as of time of publication.

In addition to the murder charge, Salazar said that Hooper may also face drug-related charges after narcotics were found in the home.

“She does have some prior charges,” Salazar said of the suspect.

The sheriff also said that authorities had responded to the residence in the past after receiving a handful of calls regarding alleged domestic disturbances.

“A lot of charges of dating related type disturbances where we were called to to resolve it, and it was with other gentlemen, other than this, this victim here. So apparently there is some sort of a pattern of behavior on the part of this suspect, but nothing ever that led to this extent,” he said. “We’re asking anyone with any follow up information that we need to know about to please give us a call at 210-335-6000.”

He added, “There is going to be one family in San Antonio that’s going to be short one family member tonight because of this tragedy.”
