North Carolina will host one of the most highly coveted prospects in the 2027 recruiting cycle when C.J. Rosser takes an unofficial visit to Chapel Hill on Monday night.

The 6-foot-10, five-star power forward from Southeastern Prep in Florida will be in attendance for the Tar Heels’ matchup against East Carolina. Rosser is the No. 1 prospect in the class of 2027, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

Rosser has been playing at a high level recently and showed out in front of a lot of onlookers. During the Grind Session in Owensboro, Kentucky, he recorded 12 points, eight rebounds and two assists in a 75-64 loss to Prolific Prep of California. He then led Southeastern Prep to a 96-84 victory over Gillion Academy of Virginia with 15 points, seven rebounds and one block.

Rosser is a classic stretch four with strong athleticism, height and outside shot-making ability, along with positional versatility. He averaged 20.1 points and 6.7 rebounds on the Nike EYBL 16U circuit in the summer.

Rosser is a Rocky Mount, North Carolina, native. Before he transferred to Southeastern Prep, he starred at Northern Nash High School, where he averaged 18.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.3 steals per game as a sophomore last season.

Rosser will be a must-get player for Hubert Davis and his staff not only because he may be the No. 1 recruit in the country, but also because he is a North Carolina native. It’s not just the optics; it’s the fact that a North Carolinian understands what the sport of basketball means to UNC and the rest of the state.
