The Ole Miss Rebels are getting some revenge and going after one of the top people on the LSU Tigers staff as they are set to hire interim coach Frank Wilson, per CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz.

Wilson has let Tigers players know that he will be departing the program following the Texas Bowl on December 27. It was starting to be suspected that he would not be retained as the running backs coach on Lane Kiffin's staff, but it's now confirmed and he will be heading to a rival.

The biggest impact that this will have is on recruiting. The actual running back production has been lacking in recent years, but they've had plenty of talent in the room thanks to Wilson's New Orleans connections.

Wilson is a New Orleans native and St. Augustine alumnus. He has coached at Edna Karr, O. Perry Walker and McNeese State in the past; he has been at LSU for a total of nine years over two stints. He is a Louisiana coaching staple.

That will be hard to replace on the recruiting trails and could lead to some current Tigers stars transferring out. Players do love him.

The focus now shifts to what Kiffin will do at running backs coach. This opens up a clear path for Kevin Smith, the current Rebels coach, to come to LSU.

Smith has worked with Kiffin for all but one year since 2017 with the Florida Atlantic Owls. He's no slouch at recruiting and coaching running back talent, either. That has to be the first name on the list for the Tigers.
