After winning their last two games of group play in the Emirates NBA Cup this week, the Los Angeles Lakers have clinched a spot in the quarterfinal round of the tournament. Overall, they have won six games in a row and hold second place in the Western Conference with a 14-4 record, and they have been cooking offensively of late.

The quarterfinal round of the Emirates NBA Cup will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 9 and Wednesday, Dec. 10. The winners of that round will advance to the semifinal round, which will be held in Las Vegas on Dec. 13, and the final game will take place on Dec. 16.

The Lakers will take on the San Antonio Spurs in the quarterfinal round on Dec. 10 at Crypto.com Arena. The other games will feature the Phoenix Suns going up against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the New York Knicks competing against the Toronto Raptors and the Miami Heat facing off versus the Orlando Magic.

The Lakers, of course, won the inaugural NBA Cup two years ago by defeating the Indiana Pacers in the final game, 123-109. They would love to capture a second one in three years and give themselves an emotional boost heading into the heart of the regular season.
