Former NBA guard Patrick Beverley gave a detailed explanation about his felony assault arrest on Friday.

The statement, apparently written by his lawyer and posted on his official personal "X" account, said that Beverley was merely acting like any big brother would when he walked into his little sister being in an uncomfortable situation with a person he didn't know.

“Patrick Beverley has no criminal record. He cares deeply about his little sister — a young lady, a minor,”“ the statement read“Given that, when he unexpectedly found her alone in the home with an 18-year-old man in the middle of the night, he was understandably concerned, as any brother would be about his sister.

But did he end up choking his own sister?

At first, many thought that Beverley beat up the guy whom he caught with his underaged sister, but looking closely at the charge filed against Pat Bev, court records say it is "Assault Family/Household Impeding Breath in the third degree", which means the person Pat Bev did harm to was a family member, not a stranger.

Because of that, internet sleuths concluded that Beverley must have ended up acting violently towards his younger sister, Mya, rather than the 18-year-old man he found inside their house. And because the charge says “impeding breath,” netizens concluded that the former NBA player must have choked his sister in anger, blaming her for the incident, instead of the 18-year-old boy. However, Pat Bev's lawyer did not elaborate on the incident and said that they will address it in the proper venue.

"We don’t believe what followed happened the way it’s been described, and we look forward to the opportunity to address that in court,” the statement continued.

Karma is a bi–h

Beverley's arrest comes just days after he and his new podcast partner Jason "White Chocolate" Williamswere called out by Klay Thompson for referring to the Dallas Mavericks shooting guard's girlfriend, rapper and songwriter Megan Thee Stallion, as a "Pu–y" while suggesting that his intense relationship with her is the root cause of his shooting struggles to start the 2025-26 NBA season.

Referring to my GF as a ‘pu—y’ is so disgusting and disturbing,” Klay wrote“Especially from someone who played in the NBA. How would y'all feel if I referred to your wives in such a way? @patbev21. Do better, fellas. Very disappointing.”

It would be unfair to Pat Bev's little sister to say that this is how the world has a way of getting back at his big bro. After all, it was White Chocolate who said the five-letter feline word. But as they say, what goes around comes around. And after they disrespected Klay's woman on their show, something like this happened just days later. Karma at its finest.

However, Beverley's arrest is just secondary. If the accusations are true, what big brother would choke his little sister over something like that? Perhaps it would have been more acceptable if Pat Bev had done it to the boy who wasn't a minor.
