CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Illinois won its first ranked non-conference game at home since 2011 in a thriller over No. 11 Texas Tech.
No. 14 Illinois hosted the Red Raiders as the first of a home-and-home series with the Big 12 powerhouse. Texas Tech went on an early 7-0 lead, but Illinois responded and carried a 45-34 lead into halftime.
Andrej Stojakovic had a breakout performance in just his second game at Illinois with 23 points, two blocks and shooting 11-16 from the field in 26 minutes off the bench.
With 22 points, Kylan Boswell now has over 1,000 career collegiate points, including his two seasons at Arizona.
Up next, the Illini will host Colgate on Friday, November 14, at 8 p.m., before another ranked test against No. 8 Alabama on November 19 at the United Center.
