The second round of Champions League fixtures concludes on Wednesday, including a huge clash between Barcelona and holders Paris Saint-Germain, while there are also four games taking place in the Championship.

Bet of the Day – Napoli to beat Sporting Lisbon @ 4/5

Napoli slipped to a 2-1 defeat at AC Milan over the weekend but can put that disappointment behind them with their first Champions League points of the season on Wednesday when they host Portugal’s Sporting CP.

Sporting come into this game in fine form domestically and they claimed a straightforward win over Kazakhstan’s Kairat in their Champions League opener.

However, the Lisbon club were unconvincing on the road in Europe last season as they managed just one away win during the Champions League league phase, at Austria’s Sturm Graz.

Sporting lost at Club Brugge and RB Leipzig in Europe last term and were held to a 0-0 draw in Dortmund when chasing a three-goal deficit.

Napoli have been exceptional at home for some time, as the Italian champions have won seven of their last eight competitive games at the Diego Armando Maradona, drawing the other, so they should have too much for the visitors on Wednesday. 

Special of the Day – Erling Haaland to score the 1st goal – Monaco vs Manchester City @ 3/1

There are no certainties in football, but right now an Erling Haaland goal does come pretty close to being a sure thing. 

Manchester City’s Norwegian striker has scored an incredible 13 goals in his last seven games for club and country, finding the back of the net in each of those fixtures, and he has eight goals in just six Premier League outings so far this season.

Haaland opened the scoring against Napoli in the first batch of Champions League fixtures and has scored first in three of his last four appearances in this competition stretching back into last season, so he looks worth the risk at a boosted 3/1 to break the deadlock at the Stade Louis II. 

Longshot of the day  – Juventus to win and both teams to score at Villarreal @ 5/1

Juventus opened the new season with back-to-back wins to nil, but they’ve now gone four games without a shut-out and conceded nine times during that run, despite remaining unbeaten.

As such, the Italian heavyweights look a big price at 5/1 to win and concede at Spain’s Villarreal on Wednesday.

The Yellow Submarine lost 1-0 at Tottenham in the opening round of league phase games and they may find in-form Juve too strong.

However, they are yet to draw a blank at home this season and have scored in nine consecutive competitive games at the Estadio de la Ceramica in a run stretching back into the previous campaign.
