Manchester United v Manchester City odds boosts (talkSPORT BET):

  • Both teams to socre, Erling Haaland to score, Bernardo Silva to have a shot on target – (was 37/10) NOW 21/5
  • Manchester United to win, Manchester United to receive over 1.5 cards, Bryan Mbeumo to have a shot on target – (was 6/1) NOW 7/1

City enter the contest as firm favourites but will be eager to bounce back after suffering defeats in their last two games before the international break.

Pep Guardiola’s men made a flying start on the opening weekend with a dominant 4-0 victory over Wolves, as Erling Haaland rediscovered his scoring touch and the club’s summer signings impressed, helping City briefly sit top of the table.

However, their momentum has since stalled – the Cityzens fell 2-0 to Tottenham in their first home fixture of the campaign before suffering a 2-1 loss away at Brighton, leaving them stuck in 13th place with just three points from three matches.

With a difficult Champions League opener against Italian title-holders Napoli looming, City will be desperate to rediscover their form in Sunday’s derby.

Manchester United, meanwhile, left it late in their last outing, snatching a dramatic 97th-minute penalty to edge past newly promoted Burnley 3-2 and avoid a winless start across their first four fixtures of the season.

Ruben Amorim’s side opened their campaign with a home defeat to Arsenal before being held to a 1-1 draw away at Fulham, followed by a shock Carabao Cup exit at the hands of League Two side Grimsby.

Four points from three league games have United sitting ninth in the table, within touching distance of the early frontrunners despite underwhelming performances so far.

United took four points from their two meetings with City last season, including a memorable victory at the Etihad, and will be aiming to extend their rivals’ poor recent derby record—City have failed to win any of the last four within 90 minutes.
