With the 2025 football season just around the corner, the legendary insurance company State Farm has once again teamed up with one of the Detroit Lions' most explosive defensive players, Aidan Hutchinson, to remind viewers that it offers much more than just insurance.

Last year, Hutchinson, 25, made his State Farm debut alongside "Jake from State Farm" in a hilarious commercial that showed him perfecting his ballet skills while promoting the company's bundle and save program.

This year, Aidan Hutchinson appears in a new spot that takes place on a football field, humorously informing viewers that having an insurance company isn't the same as having State Farm. In fact, "Jake from State Farm" said it's like "needing the leadership of this captain," referring to the NFL star who served as one of the Lions' six captains during the 2024 season, "but getting the leadership of that captain," as the camera pans to a sea captain yelling, "I spy motion on the port side!"

Aidan Hutchinson Is More Than Ready For His Second Year With State Farm

Elsewhere, in the 30-second clip, Hutchinson can be seen standing alongside "Jake from State Farm" with a confused expression on his face before shaking his head in exasperation and asking the sea captain, "What are we doing?" At the end of the clip, Hutchinson smiles into the camera as the company's slogan flashes across the screen.

It's a fun, cheeky, and amusing commercial—one that Hutchinson had a great experience filming.

"This is my second year with State Farm, and we did a really funny commercial this year," Hutchinson told The Blast exclusively. "It was a great concept with the sea captain and me being the football captain. And really, it all goes to show that having insurance isn't the same as having State Farm. At State Farm, we're the real deal. And [with me being the football captain], I was the real deal in that commercial. [The sea captain] was not."

Hutchinson has been a valued member of the State Farm family since 2024, when he gave NFL fans a good chuckle as a dance student in an intense ballet class.

According to him, however, it's difficult to say which commercial he enjoyed filming most, considering they were both "really exciting" experiences.

"The whole bundlé/savé ballet routine, that one was really funny," Hutchinson said. "But I think this year's was pretty good as well."

Hutchinson's partnership places him among an elite roster of athletes who have teamed up with the insurance giant. Over the years, State Farm has worked with basketball stars, including Caitlin Clark and Juju Watkins, as well as several NFL playmakers, such as Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes, and Derrick Henry.

For Hutchinson, joining that list of high-profile stars is a dream come true. "It was so cool. I remember when I got the first opportunity last year. I mean, I grew up [seeing] Aaron Rodgers [with State Farm]. I mean, all these different State Farm [commercials] you grow up watching and then to be a part of one ... it was so cool," he said.

As for his experience with the iconic "Jake from State Farm," portrayed by Kevin Miles, Hutchinson praised the actor for having such a "down-to-earth" personality. "From the second I met him, we have vibed and we, we got along so great," he told The Blast.

"To be able to work with him a second time this year, I feel like we built the chemistry last year and then this year on set. It was really fun working with him and being with him. Our relationship grew and it was a lot of fun," he added.

Later in our interview, Hutchinson also opened up about his approach to the 2025 NFL season. The conversation is particularly significant, specifically because he was only cleared to return to practice in May 2025 after suffering a devastating broken tibia and fibula during the Lions' lopsided win against the Dallas Cowboys in October 2024.

"I'm just excited to play football again, man," he said. "You know, I'm excited to get back out there and do what I love to do."

He continued, "Last year took that away from me, so I'm really just very grateful to be back in this position."

Hutchinson also learned a great deal about himself as a person and an athlete during his recovery, as well as during the Lions' 2025 training camp. "There was a lot of growing and evolving being done," he said, adding, "It's my goal every single training camp, every single year, just to get better in some capacity."

Besides the hard work and grueling effort during training camp, Hutchinson, who played for the University of Michigan Wolverines from 2018 to 2021, has still found time to connect with his teammates in and out of the locker room. One of the most surprising connections he's forged, though, is with rookie defensive tackle and former Ohio State Buckeye, Tyleik Williams—his one-time college rival.

According to Hutchinson, the pair has spent a significant amount of time together playing video games, specifically a PC program called "Rematch."

"We get along [and we're] trying to build the connection," he said. "[Williams] is gonna be a great teammate and a great player, and he's really coming along for a rookie. It's impressive."
