After nearly missing out on a top four finish last season, Juventus will want a fast start to the new campaign under head coach Igor Tudor.
The Old Lady will face a Parma team now coached by Carlos Cuesta. The former Arsenal assistant manager has had an immediate impact, and his Parma team look likely to give Juve plenty to think about in their opening match of the season.

Juventus vs Parma predictions
A very unconvincing Juventus clung onto fourth place and claimed the final Serie A Champions League place last season. The Old Lady finished the campaign with 70 points, just one ahead of fifth place AS Roma.
After briefly threatening to gatecrash the title race earlier in the season, they ended up in a battle just to stay in the top four. The turmoil cost Thiago Motta his job in March, with Igor Tudor brought in as their new head coach for the remainder of the season.
Despite a number of underwhelming performances, including a 5-2 mauling from Manchester City in the summer FIFA Club World Cup, Juve decided to stick with Tudor.
Finishing in the Champions League places seems to have been enough to convince the Juve hierarchy that Tudor is the right man to turn them back into title contenders. He was subsequently rewarded with a new three-year contract in the summer.
The new campaign will be Parma’s second successive season in Serie A since their return in 2024.
Despite finishing 16th in the table last season, the campaign wasn’t without incident. The promotion winning Fabio Pecchia was dismissed in February. He was replaced by Cristian Chivu, who led the team to safety, but then departed to take charge at Inter Milan.
Leading the team into the upcoming campaign will be Carlos Cuesta. At the age of 29 – at the time of his appointment – the Spaniard was the youngest manager in Europe’s top five leagues.
Cuesta comes with a huge reputation. He was assistant manager to Mikel Arteta at Arsenal for the previous five seasons, and he has clearly been brought in to take the club in a new direction.
Under Cuesta, Parma have had a tough preseason with some good results. Respectable draws against Werder Bremen and Mallorca were followed by a 3-1 win over Pro Vercelli of Serie C, a result that was to be expected. A disappointing 2-1 defeat away at Heidenheim in Germany then concluded their preseason.
But the tough assignments seemed to work as Cuesta’s team defeated Pescara 2-0 in the opening round of the Coppa Italia on Saturday, a second half brace from Mateo Pellegrino got the job done against their Serie B opposition.
The win is good preparation for a much tougher assignment in Turin.

Juventus vs Parma betting tips
Can Igor Tudor take Juventus from an established top four team back to Scudetto contenders? Their journey starts this weekend, and we are set to get a good idea in their opening match. Check out our Juve vs Parma betting tips here:
Leaky Juventus set to win and concede
Juve have been far from watertight under Igor Tudor. They conceded in three of their final four Serie A matches last season, and they have also conceded in the three friendlies they have played in the build up to this season.
There were also the five goals they shipped against Manchester City at the FIFA Club World Cup, a competition where they kept just one clean sheet in four matches.
Including their preseason friendlies, Parma have found the net in their last four matches. They could well be on the scoresheet again against Juve on Sunday.
Despite all this, we still see Juve finding a way to win.
Tip – Bet on Juventus to win and yes in both teams to score at 9/4 with bet365
Jonathan David to score on full competitive debut
There is still a bit of uncertainty over who will be playing up front for Juventus this season.
The club are working to sign Randal Kolo Muani from PSG on a permanent transfer. But that transfer is taking longer than expected, and it may be that Juve have to start the season with Dušan Vlahović and new signing Jonathan David
Vlahović is a problem for Juve with his high wages and he only has 12 months left on his contract. As a result, Juve want to shift him out this summer, but can’t do so until they are certain Kolo Muani will return from Paris.
This all leaves Jonathan David as the most likely starter this weekend. David arrived from Lille in the summer and seems to have settled in nicely, scoring in last weekend’s 2-1 friendly win over Atalanta.
Furthermore, David has led the line in Juve’s three friendlies, so looks set to get the nod to start again against Parma.
However, this is a bit of a wait and see prediction. If Dušan Vlahović starts, back him. He has scored from the bench in two of Juve’s three warm up matches. If David starts, back him instead. They are both priced up at very similar odds.
Tip – Bet on Jonathan David to score anytime at 10/11 with SBK
Back Juve to not lose along with goals in the match for a cover bet
Juventus are 9/20 to win. It should be a safe bet, but we’ve got to take into consideration that as well as conceding a lot of goals lately, the Old Lady has also had a truncated preseason after their appearance in the Club World Cup.
In case Igor Tudor’s team aren’t up to speed or are a bit too loose at the back, the bet could be to back them to win or draw, and for there to be over 2.5 goals in the match.
This wager covers results like a 2-1 win for Tudor’s team or a 2-2 draw. It gives us a bit of insurance if Juve are slow out of the blocks.
Tip – Bet on Juventus to win or draw and over 2.5 goals in the match at 19/20 with Tote
