Yarely Ashley Hermosillo’s husband, Daniel Salgado, is speaking out days after the influencer died after being hit by a stray bullet.

“It hurts to lose your other half, but when it happens in front of you and you can’t do nothing, it’s a different type of hurt,” Salgado said during a press conference with the Glendale Police Department in Arizona on Wednesday, August 20. “Yarely’s life was just beginning. We just moved into our new apartment. Her social media career was beginning to take off, and that was taken from her.”

According to a GoFundMe launched for Hermosillo’s family, the social media star was “an innocent victim caught in the middle of a road rage incident between others.”

Hermosillo — who was reportedly not involved in the argument — was taken to the hospital by Salgado, who was driving the vehicle at the time, and later died on Friday, August 15. She was 27.

Authorities claimed that Hermosillo’s mother and son were in the backseat of the car but sustained no injuries.

“You asked anybody who knew Yarely, they would tell you she was a glue to the family. She was a jokester,” Salgado said while trying to hold back tears at the press conference. “She was that caring person you could call when you needed somebody to be with. She would drop everything just to be with you. And she was an amazing cook.”

As family and friends begin their grieving process, Salgado can’t help but focus on his 4-year-old son, whom he shared with Hermosillo.

“I feel for my son when he lays to sleep at night and he can’t cuddle with her,” he said. “When we go for a walk, he waits to see his mommy coming out of the house, as she always would.”

According to police documents obtained by People, a man was arrested on Saturday, August 16, in connection with the influencer’s death.

The suspect is charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault, misconduct involving weapons and endangerment. He is being held on a $1 million bond and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Tuesday, August 26.

During the emotional press conference, Salgado thanked every law enforcement officer who was involved in the case.

“From this experience, I’ll tell you there’s good people out there,” he said.

Salgado also shared a message to his late wife — who earned more than 143,000 followers across her social media platforms thanks to her cooking and lifestyle content — before taking a few questions from the press.

“Yarely, we miss you,” he said, “and I pray you get the justice you deserve for this avoidable, malicious act.”
