The Kansas City Chiefs will look to return to winning ways when they take on the Chicago Bears in their final pre-season game this weekend.

Andy Reid’s men are yet to enter the win column prior to the 2025 NFL campaign getting underway having lost to the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks.

However, it is worth noting the Chiefs have largely kept their starters, including the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, in cotton wool throughout preseason so far.

As for the Bears, their first hit-out ended in a 24-24 tie against the Miami Dolphins before they shut out the Buffalo Bills 38-0.

With just over two weeks before the NFL season officially begins, expect to see the intensity ramped up when the Chiefs and Bears collide.

Bears at Chiefs: Team news

Aside from one pass made by Mahomes in the Chiefs’ preseason opener, the trio of Gardner Minshew, Chris Oladokun and Bailey Zappe have jointly shared duties under center.

However, Kansas City supporters can expect to see the two-time NFL MVP feature a lot more against the Bears.

And Mahomes won’t be the only starter expected to see more reps against the Bears, with Kelce, Chris Jones and Trent McDuffie all poised to play some snaps having not played any thus far in preseason.

Speaking to Fox4KC’s Harold Kuntz, Reid said: “The one’s are going to get some time against the Bears.”

Given the Chiefs’ season opener isn’t until September 5 against the Los Angeles Chargers, it makes sense for their starters to feature so that they will hit the ground running for week one of the regular campaign.

Bears at Chiefs: What has been said?

Although plenty of focus will be centred around the inevitable presence of Mahomes and his star-studded supporting cast, the Bears proved they could be a formidable team this season thanks to their shut out of the Bills.

Chicago’s defence picked off Josh Allen twice and made numerous pass breakups.

Along with a stellar defensive display, there was also plenty of praise for second-year QB Caleb Williams.

Against the Bills, Williams completed six of 10 passes for 107 yards and threw a touchdown.

It was his first preseason showing under new head coach Ben Johnson, who challenged his QB to get even better following a preseason when he’s shown glimpses of his vast potential but also some of his shortcomings behind the scenes.

“He’s really been locked in,” Johnson said.

“Any time you’re a young player, there’s usually a couple of steps forward and one step back. And that’s really been the story of this training camp.

“He and I have been really open and honest about it as we’ve gone through. And he’s had some really good practices, and he’s had a couple where, it’s not good enough.

“I thought really the three days of practice we had this week and this game were the most he’s stacked up good days in a row right now.

“The challenge is going to be keep pushing in that direction.”
