They were some of the biggest names of WWE’s 1980s and 90s boom – and decades later, they’ve come together again for an emotional reunion shot.

A photo posted recently by hugely popular retro social media account WWF Old School is responsible for the huge nostalgia trip that has fans talking.

Pictured together are seven stonewall icons of the wrestling world.

Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts, ‘Hacksaw’ Jim Duggan, Demolition Ax, Sgt. Slaughter, Demolition Smash, Tito Santana and Tatanka are stood side-by-side at a recent convention, all posing for the camera with a glimpse of the undoubted charisma they all shared still very much on show.

Between them they’ve held multiple championships, headlined pay-per-views, and been part of some of the most memorable rivalries of their generation.

Roberts, now 70, still has the unmistakable presence of a man whose ring psychology made him one of the most compelling characters of the late ’80s and early ’90s. Whether he was dropping the DDT out of nowhere or cutting a cold, deliberate promo, Roberts carved out a legacy that saw him inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014.

Jim Duggan, 71, remains every bit the patriotic crowd favourite, the first man to win a Royal Rumble back in 1988 and a star who carried his 2×4 to rings around the world. His booming “Hooo!” catchphrase and rugged charisma saw him wrestle in multiple eras, from the Hulkamania heyday to the Monday Night Wars.

Demolition’s Ax, 77, and Smash, 65, were one of the most dominant tag teams in WWE history, holding the World Tag Team Titles for a record-setting 478 days. Their masked look, pounding offence and fierce chemistry in the late 1980s made them a constant threat to the likes of The Hart Foundation, The Rockers and The Brain Busters.

They made headlines again recently having been all but welcomed back into the WWE fold having previously been at legal loggerheads with the company in Vince McMahon’s day.

Sgt. Slaughter, 76, was already a household name before his WWE Championship reign in 1991, thanks to his run in the AWA and his role as a G.I. Joe character. In WWE, he played both patriotic hero and reviled villain, most infamously turning against the USA during the Gulf War storyline.

Tito Santana, 72, is remembered as one of the finest technical wrestlers of his era. A two-time Intercontinental Champion and World Tag Team Champion, he was a constant presence on the roster through the 80s and early 90s, working with names from Greg Valentine to Mr. Perfect.

It’s a line-up packed with Hall of Fame talent and championship resumes – but one man in particular has caught the most attention.

Tatanka was a 1990s hero for WWE fans

Fans can’t believe how good Tatanka looks in 2025

“Tatanka looks like he could still go,” one fan wrote, and it’s easy to see why. Now 64, the man born Chris Chavis appears in phenomenal shape.

A proud representative of his Lumbee heritage, Tatanka exploded onto the WWF scene in 1992 with an undefeated streak that lasted almost two years, a rare feat in that era.

He would challenge for the Intercontinental Championship against the likes of Shawn Michaels and Diesel, work pay-per-view bouts with Bam Bam Bigelow and Lex Luger, and be part of Survivor Series teams alongside legends like The Undertaker.

After leaving WWE in the mid-90s, Tatanka returned for a run in the 2000s and has kept close ties with the company ever since, signing a WWE Legends deal and making occasional appearances.

As recently as May 2025, he popped up at Saturday Night’s Main Event XXXIX, showing that the physical presence and energy that defined his prime hasn’t faded.

One could argue it’s a little unfair to compare his still-strapping physique given he’s a full 13 years younger than the eldest of the line-up – the tag specialist Ax being 77 – but to cut such an imposing figure at Tatanka’s age is not to be sniffed at.

“I’m buzzing if I look like that at 64,” added a second, while a third echoed: “His arms look like they could still slay a man in WWE in 2025.”

In truth, there was love for them all. One other was simply glad to see them all looking so well, adding: “The greatest era and time in wrestling history. It has never been repeated and never will again. I got to see all these guys wrestle in person.”

Even among such storied company, it’s Tatanka’s condition that has fans doing double-takes. For many, it’s like the undefeated streak never ended.
